96.4% of state officials honestly admit they have nothing to hide

Almost all state officials have submitted their declarations, but two top officials are possibly still looking for papers under the couch. In Liepāja, we only see such great honesty in Rose Square, where everyone honestly admits they're coming to meet their beloved.

The State Revenue Service proudly announces that 96.4% of state officials have submitted their declarations by April 1st. Out of 54,799 officials, only 1,979 haven't managed to fill out the form, which demonstrates an impressive level of organizational ability that Riga can only dream of.

Particularly interesting is that two of the highest state officials haven't submitted declarations. As one high-ranking official said: "We're still looking for our income declaration under the same couch where we forgot our keys and mobile phone." Such honesty would be impossible in Liepāja's Rose Square - there everyone honestly admits they're coming to meet their beloved, not "just taking a walk."

SRS representatives indicate that late filers will be fined, but as experienced Liepāja residents say: "A fine for a late declaration is like a late tram - unpleasant, but life goes on." It's precisely this attitude toward bureaucracy that makes our city a place where even wind-delayed documents aren't a tragedy.

Interestingly, such statistics demonstrate high discipline among Latvia's officials. 96.4% is a better indicator than Riga public transport punctuality, which is already progress. We can only hope that the remaining 1,979 officials will find their papers faster than Liepāja city council finds a solution for Rose Square reconstruction.
