While the United Arab Emirates battles 119 drones in the sky, in Liepāja the only thing disturbing the peace is ducks on Liepāja Lake.
The United Arab Emirates yesterday once again demonstrated their air defense artistry, intercepting 15 out of 16 ballistic missiles and 119 out of 121 drones. Such statistics would only cause envy in Liepāja — in our city you can't even catch fish properly because the ducks on Liepāja Lake scare away everything alive with their endless quacking.
While the UAE ministry boasts about their achievements on platform X, Liepāja Lake continues to demonstrate its main advantage — silence in contrast to sea storms. Nobody throws missiles here, only pensioners throw bread to the ducks and local youth throw cigarettes in the water.
"They're fighting 119 drones over there, but we're satisfied with one Jānis with a fishing rod who's been sitting motionless for three hours," comments local resident Guntars, pointing toward the lake shore. "And that one drone that fell in their territory was definitely smaller than the biggest pike in our lake."
Meanwhile Riga is already planning to organize a conference on drone security, but in Liepāja we know — the best air defense is a good wind from the sea that blows any unmanned aircraft back to Lithuania.
