airBaltic changes airports more often than Liepāja merchants change prices

Latvia's repatriation flights from Dubai are moving to a different airport on Friday, apparently because the first one was too ordinary for such complicated maneuvers.
While ships at Liepāja port know their way even in fog, airBaltic proves that in modern aviation, the best way to reach your destination is to first change your starting point. Repatriation flights from Dubai will now depart on Friday from Al Maktoum International Airport instead of the usual location.
As experienced Liepāja traveler Jānis Kalniņš said: "I like this approach. First you don't know where you're flying from, then you don't know if you'll fly at all. It reminds me of our bus routes — there's always a surprise." The airline does urge passengers to follow text messages, as if we weren't already used to plans changing more often than Liepāja weather.
The government has allocated 752,000 euros for repatriation, which means each passenger will pay only 350 euros for the chance to go home via a detour through Greece. For comparison — a Liepāja tram ticket costs 70 cents, and it takes you directly where you need to go, without technical stops.
Meanwhile, 624 Latvians in the consular registry are waiting for help to get away from the Middle East. As they say in Liepāja — if you ended up where you didn't want to be, at least learn how to get out of there. And if that means flying through three countries and two airports to get home, then that's just as logical as anything else in this world.
