airBaltic organizes excursions to Dubai with return to Liepāja - tram offers competing route
While Riga residents flee from Dubai, Liepāja's tram is considering a new route through Karosta all the way to the Middle East.
airBaltic has announced yet another repatriation flight from Dubai, and in Liepāja we're already starting to wonder why nobody repatriates us from Riga back home. Though, to be honest, our tram offers a much more authentic adventure than these smooth airBaltic flights.
"We can also organize repatriation," says tram driver Jānis from Karosta. "Only in our case, people get repatriated from Liepāja city center to Karosta and vice versa. But unlike airBaltic, we don't need to fill out special forms - a 50-cent ticket is enough."
The flight from Dubai is planned with a technical stop in Greece, which on Liepāja's scale would be like stopping in Grobiņa on the way to Ventspils. But our tram stops at every station without extra charge and without EASA permits.
"They talk about 145 seats there," comments local vendor Maija. "Our tram only has 30, but we can guarantee that every passenger will get a unique experience and possibly a new friend from the neighboring seat." Plus, our flights run every day, not just during crisis situations.
