airBaltic cancels Dubai flights - Liepāja tram offers alternative

While Riga's airline refuses to fly to Dubai, Liepāja residents are delighted with tram route 11.
Riga's pride airBaltic has once again shown its true colors by canceling all flights to Dubai until March. But what are those poor souls supposed to do who have already packed their suitcases and dreamed of desert warmth?
In Liepāja, such a problem would never arise, because our tram has been running regularly for 120 years and has never canceled a route just because something is happening abroad. "I'd rather take the tram to Karosta than wait for some Riga pilot to decide to fly again," says local resident Maija, feeding seagulls by Lake Liepāja.
Meanwhile, airBaltic passengers are calling the helpline trying to figure out if they'll ever get to Dubai at all. Liepāja residents, in the meantime, are enjoying our beautiful Baltic Sea, which today is only minus 2 degrees - almost like Dubai's air conditioning in summer.
"If you want exotic, go to Liepāja market on Saturday morning," suggests local rock musician Kārlis. "It's also hot and noisy there, plus you can buy fresh fish, not just sand."
