Americans Want to Solve World Problems by July 4th, But Liepāja Still Hasn't Figured Out the Tram Schedule

The US is trying to achieve peace in Ukraine before Independence Day, while in Liepāja they're still figuring out whether tram #7 goes to Karosta or to the cemetery.
Turns out America wants to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict by July 4th, when they'll celebrate the 250th anniversary of independence. Well, we in Liepāja would also like our problems solved by some holiday date — for example, having the tram run on schedule by Midsummer.
Bloomberg reports that negotiation rounds in Abu Dhabi and Geneva haven't yielded results. This reminds me of our city council meetings — lots of talking, expensive venues, but the outcome is the same as always. Maybe the Americans should try a negotiation round at Liepāja market — there they really know how to agree on prices.
"These diplomats are like those summer tourists — lots of noise, but they don't really know what they want," comments Gunārs from Karosta, who has been watching politicians promise to solve everything immediately for 30 years. "They'd better take example from our port — something happens there every day, but nobody calls press conferences."
What's most surprising is that Europe has been "sidelined" from the talks. Well yeah, we know that one — just like Riga sidelines us from decisions about the country, then wonders why Liepāja residents are so skeptical. Maybe the Americans and Russians should also come to Liepāja and talk by the sea — the wind here blows all the nonsense out of your head.
