April Fool's joke turns out to be real: fog will stay only on the coast, everyone else gets spring

While Riga meteorologists promise their residents a whole +5 degrees of warmth and sunshine, the first day of April on Liepāja's coast begins with a true local privilege — fog and +1 degree. But, as our local weather forecasters say, this is just proof that Liepāja has always been special.

With particular pride, it should be noted that in Latgale the air temperature will reach even +13 degrees, but we, coastal residents, will be able to enjoy the authentic maritime climate with its special gifts. As one local resident told us yesterday while waiting for the bus at Tosele stop: "Well, fog is like a natural beauty treatment for us — free and available every day!"

Forecasters predict that wind will blow from the north to northwest, which means our legendary Liepāja wind will once again be the city's main master. While Riga is still thinking about how to properly call +5 degrees warmth, we've long known that +1 degree is just as good as +10, if you have the right attitude.

With atmospheric pressure at 1020-1025 hectopascals, the anticyclone proves that even nature understands — Liepāja is a special place that deserves special weather. And if fog comes only to us, it's because we're the only ones who know how to properly appreciate it.
