Foreign Ministry advises Liepāja residents to refrain from traveling to hot spots - better go to Karosta instead

While conflicts rage around the world, Liepāja's tram offers a safer alternative to exotic travel destinations.

The Foreign Ministry has issued a warning about traveling to Israel, but Liepāja residents aren't particularly bothered — in our city, nobody really goes anywhere anyway, unless they have to travel to Riga for documents.

"I wanted to go to Israel, but then I remembered I haven't even visited all of Karosta yet," says local tourist Valdis Bērziņš. "Why should I go abroad when it's just as exotic here — abandoned buildings, military history, and you can even hear explosions sometimes from 'Liepājas Metalurgs.'" Indeed, who needs the Middle East when you have Karosta Prison?

The Ministry recommends citizens stay near shelters, but Liepāja residents have long been accustomed to such instructions — except here, any café serves as a shelter where you can hide from downpours. The duty phone +371 26 33 77 11 does sound rather exotic though — usually we solve our problems by calling "Liepājas Tramvaju".

Meanwhile, people in Riga are probably sitting there rejoicing that they don't have to worry about such international collisions — they're already so busy figuring out how to get from Central Market to Old Town without getting lost in all that metropolitan complexity. We have it simpler — the tram only goes in one direction, so you can never get lost.
