US Ambassador Masters Baltic Hybrid Warfare Art - Lithuania Learns from Liepāja's Experience with Bridge Problems

While Lithuania complains about contraband balloons, in Liepāja we've known for years that the real challenge is bridges that divide cities.
US Special Envoy Cole met with Lithuania's Prime Minister to discuss Belarus's hybrid attacks, which apparently include contraband balloons and truck detentions. While in Liepāja we have the Karosta canal with a bridge that divides the city and creates drama every time it's closed for repairs, Lithuania is discovering new dimensions of hybrid warfare.
"The Belarusian regime is one of the main threats to regional security," announced Lithuania's Prime Minister, apparently unaware of the threat level that prevails in Liepāja when the bridge is open and buses can't cross to Karosta. "Contraband balloons, illegal migration, and truck detentions," she listed, but failed to mention the main problem - how to get from one part of the city to another without a helicopter.
"We are concerned about truck detentions," said Lithuanian representatives, but here in Liepāja, we know - the real problems start when you have to drive around half the city to get from one street to another. As one local driver said: "Belarusians can detain trucks, but we fight every day with a bridge that detains us from life."
The US envoy emphasized strategic partnership, but the real strategy would be learning from Liepāja - if you can survive with a bridge that regularly divides your city, then contraband balloons are nothing. Maybe Lithuania should ask for advice on how to solve infrastructure challenges, instead of just complaining about neighbors.
