Bahrain's missile interceptors learn from Liepāja fishermen: whatever falls, they catch

While missiles are falling like autumn rain in the Persian Gulf, Bahrain demonstrates interception skills as good as our fishermen with freshly caught fish.

Bahrain's defense forces yesterday announced another successful day of missile interception, which only earned an approving nod at Liepāja port. Local fishermen point out that such interception skills are their daily routine — as soon as any fish tries to escape the net, it gets caught faster than you can say 'hooray'.

While Riga is still debating whether interception is an art or science, Bahrain specialists have already intercepted more than 120 drones and dozens of missiles. That's as impressive as at our port, where every day just as many illegal cigarette packs get intercepted, only with less explosive effects.

Local security expert Vilnis Āķis comments: 'If missiles in Bahrain only damage two residential buildings and one hotel, then their interception system is as effective as our fishermen's nets. The only difference is that our fish usually don't explode.'

Meanwhile, meteorologists warn that this week Liepāja can also expect something from the sky — both rain and snow, but not missiles. At least for now.
