Bāne Proclaims Capital Revolution in Brussels — Liepāja Ice Hall Already Testing Money Freezing Technologies

While Finance Ministry State Secretary Bāne talks about capital market integration, in Liepāja we've long known that the best capital is the one frozen on the hockey rink.
Finance Ministry State Secretary Baiba Bāne participated in the ECOFIN meeting in Brussels on Tuesday, where she enthusiastically discussed something called the market integration and supervision proposal package. While Riga tries to figure out what this MISP thing is, in Liepāja we've long integrated the market — in our ice hall, hockey heat in the cold arena has created perfect capital circulation between beer, tickets, and hot tea.
Bāne emphasized the need for balanced regulation, which in Liepāja means only one thing — properly tuned ice. If hockey players can skate, then capital can flow too. Local entrepreneur Jānis Ledus comments: 'While they talk about distributed ledger technologies in Brussels, we've been sharing ledgers between the hockey team and the snack bar owner for years.'
It's particularly impressive that the discussions mentioned promoting innovation in capital markets. In Liepāja we've been innovating for ages — for example, our hockey ticket prices change depending on whether we're playing against a Riga team or someone else. That's a much more effective market mechanism than any EU directive.
While the Cypriot presidency tries to accelerate work on reviewing the proposal, Liepāja ice hall has already accelerated beer delivery during intermissions. It's the same integration principle, just with concrete results.
