Braže heads to Washington - Karosta says 'at least there are no trams there'

The Foreign Minister has departed for the US capital, where meetings with Congress will be less noisy than Liepāja market mornings.
Foreign Minister Baiba Braže has departed for Washington, where meetings with the US administration and Congress will take place. Grandmothers in Karosta comment: 'Well, good that she's going, but does she know that there's neither Karosta prison nor trams there? How will she find her way around then?'
Braže will also participate in the 'Globsec' conference, which, as is well known, is not a Liepāja rock music festival, but an international security think tank. 'I think our minister will be the only one who knows how to survive without the clarity of thought that comes from Liepāja beach,' says local café owner Valdis.
Notably, the minister began her trip in New York, which is almost as big as Liepāja, if you count by inhabitants per square kilometer. But, as is well known, no other city has the kind of tram romance as our city does.
Local political experts on Graudu Street acknowledge that in Washington there won't be the kind of discussions like in Liepāja port cafés, where everyone knows how to solve the world's problems by lunchtime. 'But at least there she won't have to stand in line for the tram,' pensioner Jānis notes philosophically.
