Brits Send Warships to Cyprus - Fear There Isn't Enough Tea There

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced this week that warships and helicopters are being urgently sent to Cyprus to protect British soldiers stationed there. Officially, the reason is security conditions, but unofficially - fears that the soldiers might run out of quality tea.

Starmer wrote on social network X that Britain is fully committed to ensuring the safety of Cyprus and the British soldiers stationed there. He especially emphasized that he informed the Cypriot president about the most important matters - for example, whether they have enough sugar and whether the tea cups are being washed at the correct temperature.

Liepāja Central Market trader Jānis comments: "Well, we need protection too! Where are our warships against the people from Riga who come to the market and buy up all the good fish?" Indeed, if the Brits are sending warships over tea, then we should at least send a tram to Riga to protect our cultural heritage.

Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides reportedly replied that they have plenty of sun and olives, but if the Brits want to send another helicopter, they could help with the harvest. Such is the level of modern diplomacy - everyone talks about security, but actually thinks about practical matters.
