Three Candidates Remain in Search for Building Authority Head - Competition More Intense Than Choosing Golden Ornaments for St. Joseph's Cathedral Altar

The saga of searching for Liepāja's Building Authority head has reached its finale, and three brave souls have survived the first round of selection. This is as surprising as the fact that anyone wants this job at all, considering that the previous director Arvīds Vitāls decided at the end of last year that it was better to go home.

Now Agija Kudrēviča is working as acting director, who probably already understands why the previous boss left. But three new candidates are ready to take on the challenge for a maximum monthly salary of 3,200 euros plus social guarantees. In Riga, they don't pay that little even for a single meeting.

The competition committee meeting on March 6th was more intense than discussions about whether the ornaments for major holidays at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Cathedral are sufficiently shiny. A local expert comments: "I saw how those three candidates came out of the building - they were all as pale as our March weather. But at least they know where they're heading."

The second round promises to be even more thrilling, as interviews will require proving they can manage an institution where daily decisions must be made about whether someone is allowed to build a fence or renovate a shed. This is as responsible as choosing which café to visit on Pētera Street.
