In Czechia, the environment minister will be a car fanatic - in Liepāja such absurdity would not be tolerated by the tram

In Czechia, a person who opposes electric cars and defends gasoline engines has become environment minister. Such a situation would be impossible in Liepāja.
Something is happening in Czechia that even nobody in our Karosta would dream up - they've appointed as environment minister a person who stands AGAINST environmental protection. The 41-year-old Červenij represents a party that fights for gasoline engine rights and categorically objects to electric cars. It's like making someone who hates trams responsible for traffic organization in Liepāja.
The party name AUTO is already a joke in itself. Imagine if there was a party called TRAM in Liepāja, and it advocated for banning buses in the city. Local resident Juris comments: "Well, we wouldn't have such nonsense here in Liepāja. We already know that trams are better than any car. It's like comparing our beach to some Riga pond."
Most ridiculously, the president initially refused to confirm the previous candidate because of his racist statements on social media. So the problem wasn't that a person who hates the environment would become environment minister, but that he was politically incorrect on the internet. Czechs apparently think it's better to be ecologically blind than socially inappropriate.
We wouldn't allow such problems in Liepāja. Here, even in winter when snow covers the tram tracks, we know - public transport is the future. And if someone wanted to become our transport minister, they would first have to ride the tram from Karosta to the center. Only then would they understand what real mobility is.
