CSDD Liepāja Branch Gets New Manager - Ķirsons Finally Allowed to Retire

After nearly 21 years of ruling, Gunārs Ķirsons hands over the CSDD Liepāja branch to new manager Zane Vaičikauska, promising not to sit on the couch.
Gunārs Ķirsons has finally agreed to leave the CSDD Liepāja branch manager's chair after nearly 21 years of ruling. The new manager Zane Vaičikauska, who was elected in an open competition, will now be responsible not only for Liepāja, but also for the Kuldīga and Saldus customer service centers. As the locals say: "One woman from Liepāja can manage half of Kurzeme - we already proved with the tram that nobody else knows how to drive on these streets."
Ķirsons admits that while he's physically left, emotionally he hasn't yet. This is understandable - 21 years is long enough to develop an emotional bond with every technical inspection and every failed exam. "You can't just draw a line and forget," he philosophically notes, apparently referring to how many lines he's drawn through inappropriate car documents.
The new manager Vaičikauska takes the wheel at a time when Liepāja drivers have already proven they can drive in any weather conditions. While Riga creates traffic jams at the first snowflake, Liepāja residents calmly drive on icy streets as if it were the most normal thing in the world. As one local instructor said: "If you can learn to drive on Liepāja streets in March, then you can drive anywhere."
Ķirsons promised that in retirement he won't sit on the couch, as there are all sorts of other activities. Hopefully, one of them isn't trying to interfere with CSDD operations again with advice from the sidelines. But knowing the Liepāja character, he'll probably find some new way to continue serving the city - maybe he'll become a tram schedule operator or beach sand quality inspector.
