Danes Announce Elections While We're Still Waiting for a Decent Tram

Denmark's PM has announced elections for March, but in Liepāja we're still fumbling around with our politics and tram routes.
Well look at that, the Danes are showing us how it's done again. Their prime minister simply announced to the king - there will be elections in March, and that's that. Meanwhile, our politicians are still trying to figure out why Liepāja's tram only goes one way to Karosta, but you have to walk back.
"Everything's so civilized over there in Denmark," says Gundega from Old Liepāja. "She immediately talks about security, about Europe. But what about our security when the tram breaks down again at Lielā Street?"
Danish PM Frederiksen does point out that relations with the US need to be redefined after that whole Greenland story. But we have our own Greenland story here - trying to understand why Riga always has money for trams, but in Liepāja we have the same 40-year-old car that heats up with hope in winter and cools down with self-sacrifice in summer.
Meanwhile in Denmark they're talking about rearming against Russian threats. But we've been rearmed for ages - with patience for our roads and hope that someday our politicians will also learn to simply announce: "There will be elections," instead of spending a year and a half explaining why there can't be any.
Maybe we need a king too? At least someone who can tell the tram driver - go forward, don't just stand there waiting for Riga's permission.
