Danish King Entrusts Government Formation to Frederiksen, While Liepāja's Rose Square Still Deliberating Bench Placement

While Denmark battles over 179 parliamentary seats, Liepāja still can't figure out whether to put benches to the left or right of the fountain.
Danish King Frederik X has decided to entrust government formation to Mette Frederiksen, which is about as surprising as the fact that Liepāja's Rose Square still hasn't reached a final decision on whether to place benches to the left or right of the central fountain.
Frederiksen now has to form a coalition from 84 leftist, 77 rightist, and 14 moderate MPs. This is more complicated than deciding at an emergency Liepāja city council session whether Rose Square flowers should be planted alphabetically or according to the color spectrum. At least the Danes don't have to decide whether the fountain should spray north or south depending on the political situation.
Moderate party leader Lars Løkke Rasmussen has expressed doubts about cooperating with the far-left Red-Green Alliance. As one Liepāja political scientist put it: 'They're still learning to make compromises up there in Copenhagen, but here at Rose Square we've been proving for years that you can simultaneously have red flowers, green flowers, and moderately gray cobblestones.'
The Liberals have categorically refused to continue working in a Social Democratic government, which is understandable - it's like trying to find a spot in central Liepāja where the wind doesn't blow. While Danish politicians argue about ideologies, Liepāja's Rose Square has maintained perfect coexistence between all political colors for years - the main thing is that nobody steps on the flowers.
