Deputy Wants to Free People from Government Calendar Tyranny - Liepāja Has Long Lived by Its Own Rules

Some deputy has gotten the idea that we need to abolish the work day transfer norm, not realizing that in Liepāja the tram runs whenever it feels like it anyway.
While deputies in Riga are trying to solve the work day transfer "problem," we in Liepāja have been living by our own rules for years. Our tram runs when it wants to, the "Līva" café opens when the mood is good, and in Karosta time has generally stopped somewhere around 1960.
Some deputy Vīksna has gotten the idea that we need to abolish this "efficiency-hindering" norm about work day transfers. "Practice shows the norm is not effective," she says. Well, of course it's not - nobody in Riga really knows what they're doing! Here in Liepāja we figured that out long ago.
"My cousin Jānis from Karosta says he's been working for years only when the sea is calm and his mood is good. And he's never been more productive!" says local resident Maija at the Liepāja market. "These Riga deputies are only now understanding that centralized work time organization is nonsense."
The best part is that the deputy is worried about "international competitiveness." Dear, we in Liepāja have been working on international rhythm for years - when Americans wake up, we go to sleep, when they work, we relax on the beach. And it's never been better! While Riga is still thinking about calendar reforms, we're already living in the future.
