Nine drivers proved that alcohol isn't the best navigator — only one in Kurzeme, as the rest know the way to Jūrmala park

In the past 24 hours, nine drivers decided to test whether alcohol improves driving skills. Spoiler alert: it doesn't.

In the past 24 hours, nine drivers across Latvia decided to prove that alcohol is the best co-pilot. The result was as predictable as the news that January in Liepāja will be windy.

In Latgale, four daredevils ventured on a journey with liquid courage, two each in Riga region and Zemgale, but only one in Kurzeme. "Our driver was smart — he knew the way to Jūrmala park and calmed his nerves there among the ancient trees, instead of getting behind the wheel," comments local resident Kārlis.

Of these nine heroes, six will have to part with their cars completely, as the state will confiscate their vehicles. That's about as painful as missing the last bus to Grobiņa.

Meanwhile, speed violators set a real record — 210 drivers decided to test whether their cars could fly. 78 in Vidzeme, 52 in Kurzeme, but only nine in Zemgale, because there, apparently, everyone drives like pensioners going to church on Sunday. In total, 576 administrative violations were recorded, which is more than the attendance at Liepāja theater for a good show.
