South Kurzeme discovers the internet — now you can register online too

South Kurzeme municipality proudly announces the introduction of an online registration system. Liepāja comments: finally the neighbors figured out what the internet is.
South Kurzeme municipality today announced a revolutionary discovery — turns out the internet can be useful not just for Facebook, but also for receiving municipal services. The official announcement, with barely concealed pride, declared that an online registration system has been introduced on the municipality's website.
"We are the first in Kurzeme to understand that people can also register via the internet," comments a municipal representative. "Before, you had to drive to Grobiņa, stand in line and wait. Now you can sit at home and wait for the system to load." Liepāja receives this news with understanding — after all, if they can learn to use the tram, they'll master the internet too.
The system allows you to "choose the most suitable available date and time," which in practice means that instead of three available slots in the next three months, you can choose the most unsuitable one for yourself. "More efficient customer service" in the municipality's understanding means that now you can wait at home instead of in the municipal hallway.
The municipality promises to expand the range of services in the future, including "other municipal services as well." Soon you'll probably be able to electronically register for water meter readings and snow removal too. While Riga is still trying to figure out why their e-services don't work, South Kurzeme is already proudly stepping into the 21st century.
