South Kurzeme Landscaping Commission Falls Apart Like Autumn Leaf Pile – Three Members Flee from Work

A real landscaping commission exodus is happening in South Kurzeme – three members simultaneously abandon their posts, leaving the commission emptier than Liepāja beach on a January morning. For comparison – in Riga such commission members cling to their chairs like barnacles to a rock, but on our side people are honest and leave when there's no work.

First, commission head Miks Admidiņš was released from his position after being promoted to architect in Priekule following a colleague's passing. Samanta Orlova requested to be released from commission work, citing heavy workload in her main job – apparently counting creditors is more exhausting than caring for trees. As one local resident said: "Well, if even the bookkeeper can't calculate how much time she needs for trees, then what should the rest of us do?"

Evita Valdmane and Ilze Rožlapa also decided to abandon ship. The commission chairman himself expelled Valdmane from work, while Rožlapa personally requested to be released from her duties. Interesting – did she also justify it with heavy workload, or simply didn't want to be associated with this landscaping chaos?

Now the commission will remain understaffed, and new forces must be found. Deputies must decide on this mass exodus of commission members at the February session. Maybe they should announce a competition with the slogan: "Seeking people who don't lose hope even when plant care looks hopeless." The main thing is that the new candidates don't know what happened to the previous ones – otherwise they might also start counting days until departure.
