South Kurzeme athletes prove that talent can exist outside of Riga too
The Nīca cultural center honored local athletes who can win even without the capital's privileges and endless funding.
On Thursday, South Kurzeme held its traditional athlete awards ceremony, which proved that talent can be found even beyond Riga's borders. Shocking, isn't it? Arturs Skabarnieks and Gabriela Annija Andersone became athletes of the year, proving that raising athletes in the provinces doesn't require million euro budgets and Olympic centers.
Skabarnieks, who has experienced not only fights in the ring but also burning cooking oil in the kitchen, admitted being surprised by the award.
