European Parliament figures out how to protect travelers from complex trips — In Liepāja we call that the bus to Riga

Under the new rules, travelers will be able to cancel trips for free if extraordinary circumstances arise at the departure location, en route, or at the destination. As our bus station cashier Maija says: "Well, finally! Now when we can't leave Liepāja again due to snow, at least we'll get our ticket money back." Though she added that everyone has long known anyway — if you want it quieter, it's better to stay home and go to Lake Liepāja, where silence and peace are guaranteed, unlike sea storms and travel adventures.
Particularly interesting is that the directive specifies what service combinations are considered complex trips. For example, if you book both a bus and a hotel within 24 hours. Liepāja residents receive this definition with a smile — in our case, a complex trip is any that involves leaving the city and returning the same day.
The new regulation also provides the right to refuse vouchers and request a cash refund within 14 days. This is very important because, as every experienced Liepāja resident knows, vouchers are usually offered precisely when you need real money the most — for example, when you have to pay for heating in winter.
