Ezernieki Residents Hear Drones: In Liepāja They Call That Noise a Tram

While residents in Krāslava municipality wake up from drone explosions, in Liepāja such noise is everyday life.

Residents of Ezernieki and Svarince in Krāslava municipality experienced a real horror movie at night - waking up from drone explosions and vibrating windows. Local deputy Viļums reported that his neighbor heard both drones and even woke up. In Liepāja, people just smile at such news - we get that kind of noise from the tram every day, and nobody wakes up.

The residents of Svarince village, all hundred of them, experienced what Liepāja residents call a regular night in the Grīzupe district. Vibrating windows and unexpected sounds? It's like living near Karosta Prison, except there tourists pay money to experience the horror, but here you get it for free.

"Our windows vibrate too," says local Liepāja resident Marija, "but that's only when the neighbor turns on music or when the tram goes by. We don't need any drones."

While Riga is still thinking about how to respond to drone incursions, in Liepāja we've known for a long time - if something flies over the city making noise, it's either a seagull, a helicopter, or another tourist trying to photograph the port from above. We live peacefully on, because our only horror experience is the Karosta Prison tours, and even those end with coffee.
