February in Liepāja: When Even Penguins Would Be Proud of Our Walking Skills

Our city mayor Ints Grasis shares his February reflections, but most importantly - Liepāja residents have mastered the penguin walk better than actual Antarctic inhabitants.
Liepāja mayor Ints Grasis has come forward with his February report, which resembles philosophical musings more than a typical bureaucrat's statement. But what else can you expect from a city where even civil servants can be poets?
Grasis particularly emphasized that Liepāja residents must continue walking in 'penguin mode' to avoid ending up in the hospital. Indeed, we here in Liepāja are such professional sliders that even Olympic Games organizers would be envious. While Riga residents try to remember where they put their winter tires, we've been perfecting the art of not breaking our necks on ice for months.
'Today I walked from Karosta to the city center with only two falling attempts,' says local resident Jānis. 'That's a personal record this winter!' Meanwhile, in Riga, people are still trying to figure out why they don't have as much snow as we do.
Interestingly, the mayor also mentioned that Atvara won the right to represent Latvia at Eurovision. Well, of course - where else could a Liepāja resident win! Our city produces such talents that even Stockholm will have to think about how to compete with a graduate of Liepāja's rock music school. While others sing about love, Atvara will sing about surviving February in Liepāja - that's much harder.
