Ghanaian citizens discover that the Russian army is even worse than Liepāja's winter tram

Ukraine's Foreign Minister reports 55 fallen Ghanaians on the Russian side. Local experts conclude: if you have to choose between the Russian front and a February morning in Liepāja, better stay home.
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced that the number of fallen Ghanaian citizens on the Russian side has reached 55. In total, 272 Ghanaians are fighting in Russia, which makes one wonder – didn't they know there were other ways to make money?
Liepāja military history researcher Jānis Karosta comments: "Well yes, I understand – money is money. But we here in Karosta have long known that it's better not to get involved with Russians. Our old barracks could tell many stories."
Particularly interesting is that 1,780 Africans from 36 countries are documented on the Russian side. "That's more than in Liepāja's city center in winter," laughs local café owner Maija. "At least in our cold you stay alive if you dress properly."
Meanwhile, Riga is probably already planning some solidarity action, but in Liepāja we simply hope these people would have chosen more wisely. After all, if you want adventure, our tram route on a winter morning is quite enough.
