Prosecutor General's Office launches investigation into lawyers who promise to recover money faster than Liepāja's tram gets from Karosta to downtown

Turns out it's not just Liepāja's market where you can buy weird stuff – now lawyers are also offering OIK recovery with a 30% penalty fee for opting out.
While lawyers in Riga work traditionally and boringly, revolutionary legal experts have appeared in Latvia who promise to recover OIK money for residents faster than a Liepāja resident can get from Karosta to the Fish Market. MP Jānis Patmalnieks has decided to investigate this miracle through the Prosecutor General's Office.
Turns out the association "Tiesiskums.lv" offers such an innovative approach that even Liepāja rock musicians would be impressed. If you want to terminate cooperation with these lawyers, you have to pay a 30% penalty fee. That's almost as weird as paying to get out of Liepāja Cultural Center after a concert.
"This model reminds me of our old Karosta prison days – you can get in, but getting out isn't so easy," comments local resident Jānis, who once tried to recover money for a ticket to a "Prāta Vētra" concert that never happened.
Patmalnieks points out that the lawyers work as intermediaries and take 20-50% of the recovered amount. That's more than Liepāja port charges for cargo storage! Moreover, the association claims that OIK support was illegal, even though the European Commission hasn't confirmed this. It seems these lawyers are as optimistic as Liepāja residents who hope every spring that this year the beach will be warm.
