Drones have flown into Estonian airspace, but in Liepāja we already know what real flying objects are

While Estonia worries about unknown drones, in Liepāja we're used to various flying objects — from seagulls to hockey pucks.
Our Estonian neighbors experienced a real Hollywood thriller last night — several drones flew into their airspace, triggering alarm sirens and sending people into hiding. While Tallinn residents nervously scanned the skies, looking for something resembling a flying coffee mug, in Liepāja we just smiled. We don't need to worry about unknown flying objects — hockey pucks regularly fly through our skies from the Liepāja ice hall when some beginner tries to master the art of shooting.
Estonian Colonel Uku Arolds explained that the drones were most likely Ukrainian unmanned aircraft that got lost on their way. "In Liepāja we call that a normal day by the sea," commented local resident Jānis, who regularly observes his neighbor trying to film seagulls with a drone, but they turn out to be faster than technology. "When you live in a city where the wind can pick up and carry away even a large dog, the drones are the least of your problems."
The funniest part is that Estonia activated a cell broadcast to inform residents that if they spot drones, they should seek shelter. In Liepāja we don't need such a system — we simply go to the Liepāja ice hall, where even in summer it's cold enough to hide from any threats. Moreover, if any drone tries to fly into our ice hall, it will simply freeze and fall like a puck after a powerful shot at the goal.
Meanwhile, Latvia also detected a drone near the border, but it didn't enter our territory. "It probably saw our fuel prices and decided it's better to stay in Russia," joked one reader on social media. While Riga now discusses air defense systems, in Liepāja we're calm — if any foreign object tries to fly in here, our sea wind will send it back faster than any anti-aircraft defense system.
