Iranian Minister Claims: Trump Changed 'America First' to 'Israel First', Which Reminds Us of Liepāja and Riga Relations

Iran's Foreign Minister criticizes US and Israeli military actions, but Liepāja residents see similarities with our eternal competition with the capital.

Iran's Foreign Minister announced that US President Trump has transformed his famous motto 'America First' into 'Israel First', which in his opinion means 'America Last'. Liepāja residents understand this – it's like our eternal situation with Riga, just the other way around.

'Well look, this has been our situation for decades,' comments pensioner Jānis from the Central Market. 'In Riga everything comes first – money, attention, roads. But we already know that Liepāja is the real first place, only nobody understands that.' True, we don't have to shoot rockets to prove it – a rock music festival and good coffee in the Old Town are enough.

Iran's armed forces threaten to give 'aggressors the lesson they deserve'. In Liepāja we also give lessons – every year to Riga tourists who come and realize that the beach, Karosta and real sea atmosphere are here, not where they imagined.

On Saturday there were strikes between Israel, the US and Iran, but here in Liepāja we had our own war – with rain that stopped tram traffic for an hour and a half. 'That was worse than any international conflict,' says Marija from Karosta, who had to walk to the store. 'At least abroad they don't have to wait for trams.'

But seriously speaking, while such conflicts happen in the world, we in Liepāja can be grateful for our peaceful life by the sea, where the biggest problem is that someone in Riga again imagined they're more important.
