Israeli Driver in Saliena Parish Proves That Even a Tram is a More Efficient Mode of Transport

A Renault Trafic with eight people compared to Liepāja's tram looks like amateur-level transportation business.
In Saliena Parish, border guards have stopped this year's first illegal migrant transporter — an Israeli citizen with a "Renault Trafic" that had seven undocumented persons crammed inside. As local border guard Jānis says: "Our tram here transports more people every day, and with tickets too!"
For comparison — Liepāja's tram on a normal day delivers hundreds of people from Karosta to the center, all with valid tickets and without criminal proceedings. Moreover, our tram runs on actual rails, not through fields like this "Renault" driver.
Seven persons were taken back to the Belarusian border, possibly with the same tram — now that would be irony. Ruta, owner of the local café "At Anna's," comments: "If he had driven through Liepāja, we would have shown him how to properly transport people — with a smile and hot coffee!"
Meanwhile in Riga, such news would just be statistics, but here every illegal transport is an event. Good thing our border guards are alert — otherwise someone might start thinking that a "Renault Trafic" is better than a tram.
