New Zealanders attempt to compete with Liepāja weather conditions, results are pathetic

While New Zealand's storm creates chaos, such weather is daily life in Liepāja and only makes us stronger.
A scandal has erupted in New Zealand - locals are fleeing in panic from what we in Liepāja call a 'nice autumn day.' The heavy downpours and floods there have created such chaos that they've even declared a state of emergency. In our city, we'd call such a state of emergency 'Tuesday.'
'Looking at this news, I felt sorry for the New Zealanders,' says Karosta resident Uldis. 'They have 10,000 people losing electricity from a little rain. In Karosta, our electricity goes out if a neighbor slams their door too hard.' Meanwhile, Vecliepāja pensioner Marija adds: 'Such weather only gives us motivation - we run to Lielais Dzintars café to drink tea and talk about the weather.'
Particularly ridiculous are the New Zealanders' complaints about cars getting stuck in flood waters. In Liepāja, we call that 'the parking lot by the Olympic Center after rain.' Local taxi driver Jānis comments: 'They haven't seen what happens to our streets when the Grobiņa highway sewage system gets clogged again.'
But seriously speaking, Liepāja should offer New Zealand mentoring in weather survival. We have centuries of experience living with impossible weather conditions and still being proud of it. Plus, our tram runs even in storms - that's a real technological miracle the world needs.
