Kolka defeats Riga again — this time with record-warm March 9th

Kolka yesterday proved that even climate-wise, Kurzeme is superior to the rest of Latvia, breaking the March 9th warmth record with an impressive +14 degrees. The previous record belonged to Rucava with +13.7 degrees, which only confirms that the Kurzeme region is home to Latvia's true patriots — even in nature.
Consequently, meteorologists admit that Liepāja, with its +5 to +7 degrees, was merely a witness to the temperature record, not a participant. As noted by local weather enthusiast Jānis from Pētera Street: "We meet here every day and talk about the weather, but this time there wasn't even anything to discuss — it was so warm everywhere!"
Riga's meteorological station received this news with typical capital city jealousy. Their representative commented: "Yeah, well, Kolka... it's always different there." Meanwhile, Ventspils with its +5 degrees has remained silent, apparently still recovering from the shock.
