Scammers Discover New Profession - VSAA Couriers with Parcel Lockers and Urgency
While Liepāja pensioners peacefully drink coffee at Roja café, phone scammers have invented that VSAA now sends letters via couriers and parcel lockers.
While Riga scammers are still figuring out how to con their residents with old methods, new offers are already ringing through Liepāja pensioners' phones. Turns out VSAA has supposedly become a modern courier service, rushing to deliver some mysterious letters directly to homes or even through parcel lockers.
"Someone called me yesterday and said I had a letter from VSAA," says Marija from Karosta. "I thought — finally something new! But then they asked for my Smart-ID code, and I realized this wasn't the same VSAA that usually sends me pension calculations by regular mail like normal people."
Particularly amusing is that scammers even offer a choice of delivery method — either to your home or through a parcel locker. Probably in the next version there'll be tram stops as delivery addresses too. "Pick up your VSAA letter at tram stop #5, between the Big and Little Kings!"
Indeed, Liepāja residents have experienced all kinds of weather conditions and scammers, so such calls don't confuse them. As one local said: "If VSAA started sending letters with couriers, they'd first announce it in 'Liepājas Vēstis' newspaper, not call and rush people." Of course, if in doubt, it's better to hang up and go to the VSAA office in person — at least you can enjoy the fresh sea air on the way.
