Russian oil depot burns for second time this week — even our Baltic Sea isn't as hot as their fuel storage

Ukrainian drones have visited the Krasnodar oil depot again, proving that precision isn't just a strong suit of Liepāja residents.

Ukrainian drones have once again visited the Krasnodar region oil depot, and the result was as predictable as the fact that our beach and Baltic Sea are windy and cold even in summer. The Tikhoretsk complex is burning for the second time this week, which makes you wonder — are the same firefighters working there as in Riga?

The subsidiary of state company "Transneft" called "Tikhoretsk-Neft" apparently hasn't learned from Thursday's experience, when the first drone visit already sparked a fire. Maybe they thought it wouldn't happen twice? That's about as naive as hoping for calm weather without wind in Liepāja.

"Well, at least no people were hurt," says local resident Viktor, "but the oil is burning like candles on Midsummer's Eve." True, this is one of the largest petroleum product transshipment points in southern Russia, so each such incident raises questions about safety. Or about how often "coincidences" can happen in one place.

Riga experts have already begun studying the situation and conclude that attacks of this frequency are no coincidence. But we Liepāja residents know — if something can repeat, it definitely will repeat. Just like our wind every day.
