Russian port liquidators outperform even Liepāja's wind — 56 drones in one night
A grandiose fireworks display involving 56 drones took place overnight at Ust-Luga port, but local governors are calling it 'containment'.
Leningrad Oblast Governor Alexander Drozdenko announced sensational news yesterday — 56 drones were 'liquidated' over his region during the night. This is as impressive as trying to stop Liepāja's wind with a rag — theoretically possible, but in practice the result is quite amusing.
What Drozdenko diplomatically calls 'fire containment' is currently taking place at Ust-Luga port. In other words, it's burning like holiday fireworks, just without the celebration. The Novatek gas condensate processing complex turned out to be a bit too hospitable in receiving unexpected guests.
'We have such wind here every day that 56 drones would just be warm breeze clouds,' comments a Liepāja port worker watching the news with understanding. 'But they're acting like it's the first time they've seen something flying in the air.'
At St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport, 49 flights were delayed until 8:30 AM and more than 20 were cancelled. That's nothing, of course, compared to how many flights Riga Airport cancels for no reason at all. Russian organizational capabilities once again demonstrate why they can't manage even normal weather conditions, let alone unexpected guests in the sky.
