Russian special services learn the art of explosions from Liepāja residents: result like tramway repairs

A woman has been detained in Ukraine for helping Russian special services organize explosions. What happened in Lviv resembles the sounds of Liepāja's tramway - loud, unexpected, and disturbing to everyone.

Lviv police have announced the detention of a woman who helped Russian special services organize explosions in the city center. The 33-year-old resident of Rivne region made explosive devices and placed them in garbage containers - apparently thinking this was normal waste sorting.

According to the prosecutor's office, initially a break-in at a store was reported, but after police arrived, explosions began. One after another, like a Liepāja resident trying to start an old tramway in winter - the first attempt fails, the second one too, but there's definitely sound.

In the tragic incident, a 23-year-old policewoman died and 25 people were injured, six of them in serious condition. For comparison - in Liepāja, when someone tries to open a café on Rojas Street in the middle of winter, heads also hurt, but there are no fatalities.

"Well, of course, we here in Liepāja also know how to make loud sounds," comments local elder Jānis, "but we do it culturally - either with rock music at Bird Island, or with tramway track repairs. We don't put any little bombs in garbage containers."

Ukraine's Security Service has launched a pre-trial investigation. The suspect was detained at the Polish border, apparently hoping she could buy better explosives there than at home. As Liepāja residents say - if you're going to do something, do it properly, but in this case it's better not to do it at all.
