Russian losses exceed one million — as large a number as Liepāja Olympic Center pool visitors' dreams about water temperature

Ukraine's General Staff has announced with mathematical precision that Russian manpower losses have reached 1,279,170, which is almost as many times as Liepāja residents have wished for warmer water in the Liepāja Olympic Center pool. In one day, 740 invaders were eliminated, which is roughly as many visitors you'll see in the center's gym when there's another free day.

The numbers are impressive — 11,781 tanks, 24,213 armored personnel carriers, and 38,438 artillery pieces. For comparison, in Liepāja we have one tram, and it still runs. Particularly fascinating are the 179,270 drones, which is more than all of Liepāja's spider webs combined, but at least ours don't bother the neighbors.

Most interesting is that ongoing hostilities hinder information verification. It's roughly like counting the Olympic Center pool visitors in winter — theoretically possible, but practically complicated, since everyone's hiding in search of warmth. Local swimmer Valdis comments: 'Well, at least they count precisely. We don't even know how many degrees the water is.'

While such counting competitions happen in the world, in Liepāja we continue counting more important things — how many days until summer and whether the pool will finally heat up. That's much more practical than counting someone else's submarines.
