Kurzeme becomes real estate emperor, Liepāja once again proves it's the best city in the country

While homes in Riga cost like spaceships, Kurzeme dominates the real estate market with deals worth 119 million euros. Liepāja is the leader again, because everyone understands - where else would you live if not by the sea?

While Riga's real estate agents are still trying to sell apartments for astronomical sums, Kurzeme has quietly become the country's real estate emperor. 119 million euros in one year - that's almost as much as one two-bedroom apartment costs in central Riga!

Liepāja, as always, is the leader in this field. And why wouldn't it be? Where else can you live so that you see the sea from your window, and together with your neighbor from the second floor you can visit the Liepāja Olympic Center - a sports temple with a pool where local athletes train just as intensively as amateur swimmers in the capital try to overcome two meters?

Data shows that half of the deals are for amounts up to 20,000 euros. "Well, how else could it be," says local resident Mudīte, "for 20 thousand you can buy a good apartment here, but in Riga for that money you only get keys to some basement room in Torņakalns."

Particularly interesting is that experts acknowledge - official data doesn't reflect the real situation, as some deals are made with cash. Apparently someone still hasn't heard about bank transfers, but in Liepāja we understand this - sometimes it's better with cash, because then you can immediately see if the money isn't as fake as Riga politicians' promises.

Meanwhile, Latgale had deals worth only 48 million euros, which proves - if you want to sell real estate, come to Kurzeme. Here we know how to handle it, because we've learned from the best - sea traders who have known how to assess real value for centuries.
