Movement 'For!' wants back into Parliament - promises not to destroy healthcare system this time

The former ruling party, which in the last elections won as many seats as Liepāja's tram has passengers - zero, is preparing for a new victorious campaign.

Movement 'For!' has announced it will run in the parliamentary elections with its own list, because, as it turns out, nobody else wants to unite with them. The party congress authorized the board and council to decide on strategy, which is roughly the same as authorizing a tram driver in Liepāja to choose a route - there's only one option.

The party's goal is to achieve 2.5% support, which is about as realistic as hoping that Riga's transport system will someday operate without delays. 'We are ready to fight against populists and Putinists,' explains local political expert Jānis Krastkrūms. 'True, they themselves weren't populists, they were just bad ministers.'

Particularly interesting is that the party calls for centrist parties to unite, while itself starting with its own list. It's like inviting everyone to a party but staying home yourself. In Liepāja, such logic is called 'Riga thinking.'

Party representatives work in six municipalities, which is almost as many as there are normally functioning cafes in Liepāja during winter. They promise to form lists in all five electoral districts, because, as a former party member said: 'If we're going to fail once, let's fail big.' At least this time they're not promising to fix the healthcare system - that's already progress.
