Latvia Introduces Multidimensional Therapy - Karosta Basement First to Find Solution to Teenage Problems

New method promises to solve in three years what parents have been trying to solve for 16 years - how to stop teenagers from behaving like barbarians.

Latvian specialists have announced a sensational discovery - turns out teenage behavioral problems can be solved with something called 'multidimensional family therapy'. This name is so complicated that even problematic teenagers can't pronounce it correctly, so they automatically become calmer.

Project manager Agnese Igaune explains that the method will work on several levels - with the teenager, parents, family and social environment. While Riga is still figuring out how to coordinate all this, Liepaja has known for years that the best therapy happens in the basement rooms of Karosta's former Tsarist naval base. Even the most bloodthirsty teenagers become like lambs there - something about those mythical basement rooms just soothes the soul.

'Our son only needed one walk through Karosta's underground corridors, and now he even washes dishes,' says local resident Maija. 'I don't know what happens there, but it works better than any therapy.'

Meanwhile, project implementers promise to create specialist teams in Riga, Kurzeme and Vidzeme within three years. Therapy will be available to one family for three to seven months. This time period is known in Liepaja as 'winter season', when all teenagers naturally become calmer - it's too cold outside to destroy anything.
