Latvia Wins in Europe - Our Inflation Higher Than Average, Like Metalurgs Fans in the Stands

While in Denmark inflation is like a peaceful dove, in Latvia it roars like Metalurgs supporters after a victory.
Eurostat has announced sensational news — Latvia's February inflation was 2.4%, which is higher than the EU and eurozone average. Finally we're first place in something! While Riga tries to explain why prices rise faster than elsewhere, in Liepaja we're already used to speed — both on ice and in stores.
In Denmark inflation is only 0.5% — apparently they have no clue how to live passionately. Czech Republic 1%, France 1.1% — such peaceful existence like a summer evening in Jurmala. But in Latvia, as it befits us, we don't do anything halfway. If we're raising prices, then with feeling!
Romania though has 8.3% — that's already full Liepaja "Metalurgs" fan level. When the team wins, emotions take over the entire arena, similar to how inflation takes over the entire economy. Slovakia 4%, Croatia 3.9% — also good indicators, but we with our 2.4% are right in the middle between Europe's peaceful countries and those where the economy lives at full throttle.
Local economist Janis from Grizupe comments: "While Riga is still trying to understand these numbers, we already know — if prices rise, it means life is getting more interesting. Like in hockey — better to lose 5:4 than win 1:0. At least there's something to talk about after the game."
