Latvian Post discovers that even in desert heat, letters can be delivered faster than in Riga

Latvian Post has resumed shipment delivery to Oman and Saudi Arabia, proving that even camels are more reliable than the capital's couriers.
Latvian Post yesterday announced a revolutionary discovery — it turns out shipments can also be delivered to distant countries where there are no permanent traffic jams. Oman and Saudi Arabia can once again receive our letters, which is excellent progress, considering that sometimes it seems the post gets from Riga to Liepāja faster than from the Center to Purvciems.
A company representative explains that the oldest shipments will be delivered with priority. Liepāja resident Jānis Kalniņš comments: "Good thing they didn't know about our lake — there we sometimes find letters that have been lost for ten years already. Liepāja's lake in its silence has witnessed more postal oddities than the sea during storms."
It's nice to hear that the post has made a profit rather than losses. It probably helped that they finally understood — if a shipment needs to be delivered to the desert, it's still easier than finding the correct address in Riga's residential districts, where house numbering follows the principle of randomness.
Meanwhile, "Omniva" is still wondering whether they're allowed to send anything further than Sigulda. But that's another story about the wonders of the Latvian postal system.
