Western Latvia will swim, eastern Latvia will sunbathe — as usual, Latgale wins with weather

Meteorologists promised rain for the west, sun for the east, but in Liepāja we know it'll be windy anyway.
The meteorological service, with its usual precision, announced that tonight it will rain in western Latvia while the sun will shine in the east. This is about as surprising as news that it's windy in Liepāja or that Liepāja's museums are visited by more tourists than locals.
In Rīga, temperatures will fluctuate between +2 to +6 degrees, which for the capital is practically tropical climate. For comparison — in Liepāja, we're already thinking about beach season at +4 degrees and remembering that at Liepāja's museum you can learn how our ancestors survived with much lower temperatures and without central heating.
Most interesting is that the east expects +12 degrees, which means people from Latgale will once again prove they're the best not only linguistically, but also in climate choice. While Rīga residents hide from rain under umbrellas, Daugavpils inhabitants will enjoy sunshine.
Liepāja tram driver Valdis comments: "We don't care what's the weather like — the tram runs in rain, sun, and storms. The main thing is that the wind doesn't blow too hard, otherwise the tram might fly all the way to Ventspils." And that would be the first case of public transport in Latvia exceeding planned speed.
