LAU Infra Group Complains About Road Tender Again: Faster Than Liepāja Tram Reaches Karosta

LAU Infra Group has submitted a complaint about the state road maintenance tender for the second time. The complaint review deadline is unknown, but will definitely be shorter than the Liepāja tram route.
LAU Infra Group has proven for the second time that nothing in Latvia is more permanent than temporary solutions and company complaints about tenders. The company that currently maintains almost all of Latvia's roads is once again dissatisfied with the competition results and has submitted a new complaint to the Procurement Monitoring Bureau.
The first complaint in February was deemed unfounded, but apparently LAU Infra Group believes the second time's the charm. It's like our Liepāja tram — it also runs the same route every day, but you never know if it will actually reach its destination today.
LVC explains that since 2022, road maintenance has been procured through open competition, and the state road network has been divided into 19 territories. This is almost as complicated as understanding why Riga residents think they have better roads in their city — they clearly haven't seen how smooth our Liepāja streets are after winter.
The new period is planned to maintain 1,860 kilometers of state roads, but the main question remains unanswered — will all these complaints and tenders make the roads better than being able to cycle on them without feeling every stone? LAU Infra Group worked with a turnover of 97 million euros last year, which is considerably more than Liepāja's entire budget, but our roads still resemble the Moon's surface — just with more potholes.
