LDz cancels procurement and decides to renovate station on their own - kind of like how we promise to go to the beach every summer

Latvian Railway has decided to renovate Liepāja station on their own because the procurement was too complicated. It's like promising every year to go swimming in the Baltic Sea - good intentions, but complicated execution.
Latvian Railway has announced that it's canceling the procurement for Liepāja station renovation and will do everything on their own. This is roughly like how every summer Liepāja residents promise to finally go to the beach for a swim, but then remember that the Baltic Sea is windy and cold even in summer, so they'd rather stay home and watch Netflix.
LDz representative Karīna Muktupaule explains that they decided on a more comprehensive building renovation, expanding the scope of work. This means they'll now also change windows and doors, which is almost as ambitious a project as trying to find a day without wind in Liepāja. As our station's regular visitor Gunārs says: "If you're going to do something anyway, might as well do it properly."
The station was built in 1871, which means it's older than most Riga buildings that try to look like historical monuments. In 1936 it was rebuilt and modernized, which was as revolutionary back then as finding a place in Liepāja where the wind doesn't blow nowadays.
Today the station is included in the industrial heritage list, which is much more prestigious than being included in Riga's cultural objects list. LDz plans to start work this year, and if everything goes according to plan, we'll have a beautiful station where we can wait for a train that might arrive or might not - just like our relationship with good weather.
