In Liepāja, 61 children simultaneously blow metal — wind gets scared and hides

At the 'Sound Whirlwind' festival, a metal wind instrument orchestra created such a powerful sound that even our famous wind fell silent in surprise for a moment.
Liepāja hosted the wind instrument festival 'Sound Whirlwind,' where 61 young musicians joined forces to create a sound that surpassed even our legendary wind. And that's really something!
The festival's main 'weapon' was 29 trumpeters who together created such sound power that Riga probably thought — finally they have their own wind too. 'I heard that sound from Grobiņa,' says local resident Jānis. 'I thought — either our kids are learning to blow, or the wind has learned to play trumpet.'
Alongside the trumpets, French horns, trombones and tuba also sounded — a complete metal arsenal. Teachers even organized a surprise performance with popular music pieces. 'Finally someone understood that adults need attention too,' comments festival visitor Inese.
The festival's youngest participant — six-year-old Caķejs Viskupaitis — bravely performed with a solo piece. A child who still can't tie his shoes but can already outdo Liepāja's wind with a trumpet — that's a future star! In Riga such talents are born only once a year, but for us — every week.
As organizer Kristīne Varažinska said: the festival became 'a true inspiration event.' And we agree — if 61 children simultaneously blow into metal tubes and no one has run home, then that's truly a miracle.
