Liepāja Opens Clinic Where Specialists Come from Riga - Now Capital Residents Have to Travel Here for Treatment

A clinic has opened on Neatkarības rotas Street that claims to be so good that even Riga residents travel here for treatment. Well yes, we're surprised too — usually it's the other way around, with Liepāja residents traveling to Riga for quality medicine.
Traumatologist Māris Leitlands manages to explain between surgeries that everything at his clinic is more modern, faster and better than elsewhere. "We can perform surgery less invasively — making smaller incisions," the doctor explains, apparently indicating that elsewhere surgeons still work with axes and saws.
We especially like the clinic's approach — if a case is acute, the doctor can see patients between surgeries. So while one patient lies on the operating table, another can stand in line at the door with their broken arm. Efficiency in the 21st century!
Local resident Jānis comments: "Finally! Now we don't have to travel to Riga to find out that the problem isn't that serious and a couple of pills will do." Meanwhile, Riga specialists are traveling here — they've probably realized that the air is cleaner in Liepāja and the patients are more honest. Or they simply like our tram.
