Liepāja Reveals Secret Reserve of Crazy People - Even Riga Starts to Envy Our Talents

At the honorary Liepāja citizens ceremony, a shocking truth was revealed - Liepāja has so many good, energetic and crazy people that we're even running out of certificates.
While Riga is still trying to figure out how to spell the word 'energetic' without mistakes, Liepāja had a grand revelation. At the honorary citizens ceremony, Ināra Kalnarāja said what we all knew but no one dared to say out loud: 'If you only knew how many good, energetic, crazy people there are in Liepāja!'
The mixed choir 'Laiks' singers took on the role of event hosts, proving that in Liepāja even a choir member can be a universal specialist. In Riga they call such versatility a labor law violation, but here we call it talent.
'Why should we be stingy with those certificates?' asked an honorary Liepāja citizen, and this question shook the entire ceremony. Indeed, why should we be stingy with certificates when our city has so many people who deserve recognition? While the capital divides one honorary title among ten committees and discussions, we simply honor those who have earned it.
As one attendee said: 'After this ceremony I understood why tourists love walking on the North Pier - they hope that one of our crazy and energetic Liepāja residents will tell them an interesting story.' And indeed, where else in Latvia will you find a place where a couple who spent 60 years in marriage is still so energetic that they share their joy with the entire city?
