Liepāja Lights Itself Up Like a Christmas Tree, But in March and With Environmental Conscience

The city will shine like a disco for four evenings, but with deep thoughts about the Baltic Sea and conscious moderation.
Well now, dear Liepāja residents, once again the time has come when our beloved city decides to transform into a giant light show. But this time with deeper meaning than usual - let's talk about conscious moderation. It's almost like vegetarianism, but with LED lights.
Evija Timbra from the Culture Department promises that this year everything will be different. Not just the usual colorful bulbs, but also a laser performance! Rīga won't have anything like this, we can guarantee that. They're still trying to figure out how to turn on a light bulb without instructions in Russian.
Particularly intriguing is the idea of sea creatures that will emerge from the water like some kind of underwater zombies. Local fisherman Pēteris comments: "I told you something strange was happening in that canal. Now it turns out it was art." Interactive installations will allow everyone to thoroughly mess around with lights, which will be especially useful for those who still haven't figured out how a light switch works at home.
But the most beautiful part is that local businesses will light up their windows like an advent calendar. And restaurants promise wind cakes - though this time, perhaps, they'll have a smaller carbon footprint. After all, moderation is important even in cakes. The walk will take place from March 18th to 21st, when our climate will be ideally suited for standing outside without warm clothing - provided you're either a penguin or a Liepāja resident.
